Welcome to Endellion, an anime-based medieval fantasy role play.
Updates :: Most things seem to be in place now. There's a new restriction on characters with Red Flames, so unfortunately we will no longer be accepting them. Also, Photobucket is evil and likes to make my images blurry after a few days; I'll be re-uploading all the old images over the next few days, so please bear with the quality fail for a little while longer.
Port Filra is the home of the largest market in all of Endellion. This busy city works day and night, with it's many inns and taverns in a constant state of no vacancy. A constant stream of visitors and immigrants arrive daily from the docks, where the curious can always find a foreign vessel or two unloading their goods. The city is small when compared to the other two main cities of Themis and Sabel. Filra is built on the innermost edge of a moon-shaped harbour. It has been designed to be a fortress against pirate raids, and so has been built on "levels", with several small walls separating each level. It's fleet guards the harbour day and night, and a thick imposing wall protects the city from land-based attacks.
Like the vision of a dehydrated sailor, these islands appear and disappear between the waves of the ocean. Although they don't actually disappear, strange occurrences due to the heat and salty spray of the water has made many a traveller think that the islands are simply an illusion. There are three islands in the Mirage Isles; three huge islands made of sand and held together by vast areas of vegetation. Small settlements are scattered all across the islands, hidden in between the tall grass trees. All three islands are edged with pure white sand, which is said to clean any metal with ease. A large reef protects the islands, save for a single break, which most ships can traverse.
Sabel Lake and Crystalis Falls have always carried with them a sense of mystery and magic. Many hikers have braved the mountains surrounding Sabel to glimpse the famed lake. The white-barked trees around the lake are always crowned with green leaves, no matter what the season. The lakebed itself seems to be golden, made up not of dirt or cold grey stone, but rather golden brown sandstone. The falls tumble down from the ridge of a low mountain into the lake. Where the falling water makes contact with the lake surface is a perpetual cloud of mist and rainbows scattered throughout it. The spray is said to have healing powers, and the sand from the lake's shore is the perfect thing to shine up armour or jewellery. The trees that surround the lake are tall and white, finger-like branches holding drooping, grey green leaves. It is often said that they look as though they are hands reaching for the heavens.
Sabel, the oldest city in Endellion. This grand sandstone city was once the capital of Endellion. Towering walls built hundreds of years previously surround the city. Some sections are so old they have crumbled and become more historical charm than an actual defence. The houses here are all old, and mostly made from the same sandstone as the city's walls. Scattered throughout are a few large inns which are all said to be filled with ghosts. Sabel is the place to go for history and traditional life. The large University and Grand Library are this city's main attractions, and many of Endellion's scholars and magicians have studied here at one time or another. Sabel is the ancestral home of the royal family, and every year during the golden months of autumn a festival is held in honour of the deeds preformed by the ruling family.
Hidden deep within the sprawling Eastern Mountains lies the ruins of one of Endellion's ancient cities. From what little ruins are left it seems that the city follows roughly the same circular, high-walled design of Sabel. Sandstone blocks and ancient idols are scattered randomly throughout the ruins, and one or two large buildings still stand intact. Most of the relics and treasures are now gone, however only half the city has been fully explored. Below the ruins there runs a labyrinth of caves and tunnels, each one unexplored and filled with hidden dangers. The ruins stand in the middle of a clearing, filled with long pale green grass and small bushes clad in sharp spikes. Surrounding the clearing is a tiny forest made with the same white, hand like trees that edge Sabel Lake.
The grass growing over this vast, empty landscape is not green, but rather a sandy colour. It's not dying; in fact, the grass here has naturally grown as a sandy brown. The effect this has on the relatively flat landscape is almost like a desert, or a dried up lakebed. Still, the plains are full of life; if you know where to look. The grass is filled with scampering mice and the air alive with insects. Here and there tall, scraggly trees have grown in clumps. Their branches are often filled with birds, and the shade beneath occupied by hunting animals, or the occasional traveller. The grasslands are prone to gale force winds and sudden storms.
Themis, otherwise known as "The Desert City", appears as a sudden break in the flat, seemingly endless grasslands. The city is surrounded by high stone walls, which not only guard the town, but provide some shelter from the raging winds of the grasslands. Themis is a rambling city; it's houses were not so much as planned as stuck next to each other, each one packed in as tight as possible. Every house in Themis has at least two levels. Residents use the strange, flat rooves of these houses as a sort of second road; gaps between buildings are spaned by bridges or wooden planks, and ladders enable citizens to reach a roof of a different height. Every year celebrational games are held in the Coliseum at the city's centre.
It is said that long ago the land here was struck by a bold of divine lightning and split in two. The Starlight Divide is the result of that celestial interference; a huge chasm, hundreds of kilometres long and deeper than anyone can see, faced in a pitch black rock not unlike those found in volcanic areas. Arched grey stone bridges, each an architectural feat in their own right, span the divide at it's narrowest points. Two are in a desolate plain, one near the ocean and another near the forest. Statues of guardian creatures, both real an imaginary, line the bridges and protect all those who cross over.
Enma, the newest city in Endellion, is also the most dangerous and unruly. The city is home to rouges and dark magicians, and thieves and gangs often meet on the corners of it's (well planned) streets. The city itself seems to be shrouded in darkness; clouds cover the sky nearly every day, and a morning without fog is a rare sight indeed. The buildings are tall and tightly packed, leading onto wide streets or narrow alleyways. Despite the occupations of most of Enma's population, the city runs smoothly and is often regarded as a safe haven away from authority for those with a questionable line of work. It acts as a sanctuary for the darker parts of society, and anyone to violate the unwritten rules of the sanctuary will regret their decision for the rest of their life.
